HENRICO, VA. (WTVR)--It didn’t take Henrico Police very long to nab a New Year’s Eve bank robbery suspect.

Police told CBS 6 reporter Jon Burkett that the robber used a note to demand money from a teller at the Wells Fargo near Glenside and Broad Street.

The bank robbery suspect later identified as Timothy Westbury fled the scene on a scooter describes as whitish and blue. Westbury wore a medical mask and yellow helmet as he scooted off.

Police were able to track down Westbury at his Dellrose Avenue home in the Lakeside area, but not before neighbor John Jones was briefly detained and questioned.

“I pulled into my driveway and six cop cars followed me,” Jones said. “I got out of my car and they told me to put my hands in the air.”

Jones said police later told him that the ping on a bank tracking bug led them to his house. Police weren’t far off--Westbury lived two doors away. Westbury was arrested and taken to the Chesterfield County jail for other warrants he had on file.

Henrico police told CBS 6 that warrants are now on file in Henrico for bank robbery.
