RICHMOND, Va (WTVR)--It may not have been a white Christmas, but the day after was certainly wet here in Central Virginia.

Across the state, between midnight and 2 p.m. Wednesday, Virginia State Police worked 1920 calls for service, including 686 crashes.

In the Richmond area, the rainy weather and holiday travelers caused congestion.

Near Bells Road, Interstate 95 had a weather-related accident where a tanker truck ended up striking the guard rail. It was a two-vehicle accident that left a driver injured after he hydroplaned and ran into the path of the tanker truck.

Then, just across the roadway, in southbound lanes, a car ran off the interstate and sunk in the grass and mud.

Troopers asked drivers to slow down and be extra cautious on Thursday, as colder temperatures could cause ice on the roadways in some areas.
