RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) – The second storm system that will reach us this week will not only bring widespread rainfall totals of an inch or two, but could also bring the threat for damaging wind gusts to the southeast half of Virginia.

This storm system will pull in rich moisture from the Gulf and Southeast U.S., and also produce sufficient wind shear for damaging wind gusts. The system’s cold front will track eastward late Wednesday afternoon, serving as a forcing mechanism for enhanced heavy rain and thunderstorm potential.

I expect the severe threat to diminish after 9 p.m. Wednesday as the cold front allows a much colder, drier air-mass to surge into our region.

Stay with CBS 6, we’ll keep you ahead of the storm.
