LOS ANGELES—Tuesday a judge ruled that the Los Angeles Unified School District must distribute $6.9 million to a boy molested by a school teacher.

This is among the largest awards in a district molestation case.

Forrest Stobbe pleaded no contest in September 2011 to two counts of a lewd act on a child and to continuous sexual abuse of a child younger than 14. He is currently serving a 16-year sentence in prison.

The molestation began in October 2008, when the student was 10-years-old. The abuse continued into summer of the next year.

The Los Angeles Times reports that Stobbe was welcomed by the boy’s father, who would buy the boy season passes to amusement parks and molest him on the daytrips.

Stobbe’s was so convincing that the boy’s father asked his son if Stobbe should become his godfather.

The father later testified that at that point, the boy confessed the abuse to his father.

Among evidence collected against Stobbe was a jar of petroleum jelly in his school desk that tested positive for the boy’s DNA.

It does not appear that the boy was Stobbe’s only target.
