Five people left homeless in Henrico fire

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) – Crews are investigating a fire that left five people homeless Saturday morning.

It happened shortly before 4 a.m. at the 2200 block of Cleary Road near Mechanicsville Turnpike.

When crews arrived, they found the roof on fire of a one story home.  The roof of their home collapsed 10 minutes after everyone got out safely.

The family says they found out there was a fire in their home when the smoke detector woke them up.

The fire was marked under control shortly after 5 a.m.

One occupant suffered minor injuries and received stitches. 

Two adults and three children will be displaced.  The Red Cross is responding to the family’s needs.

Investigators are still trying to figure out what caused the fire.
