RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR)—A trial has been set for the Richmond-based Lamb of God frontman Randy Blythe.

According to information sent to CBS 6 by the Prague Post, Blythe will stand trial Feb. 4, 2013, on charges of manslaughter in the death of a fan at a Prague concert two years ago. That date was confirmed by the Municipal Court, according to the publication.

The court originally had three months to set a trial date after announcing on Dec. 3 that Blythe was officially indicted on manslaughter charges.

“The trial will determine the culpability of Blythe, and his potential punishment.” said court spokeswoman Martina Lhotáková. The spokesperson also said that a summons has been issued.

Blythe, 41-years-old, stands accused of pushing the 19-year-old fan Daniel N. off the stage during a Lamb of God performance.

It is reported that the overseas tour promoter was questioned about the May 2010 Club Abaton show but that promoter said nothing happened that the band or the venue knew about.

The fan died several weeks after the show, allegedly after going into a coma from a brain hemorrhage.

Larry Mazer, the bands manager, issued a statement in response to the indictment.

“Obviously, we intend to fight vigorously against these charges as we feel that in no way did Randy intend to cause bodily harm on the young fan who subsequently died from injuries sustained at the show,” Mazer said.

“While it is a tragedy that a Lamb of God fan died following a performance by the group, in no way do I feel that Randy did anything improper that led to the young man’s injuries and subsequent death.”

“The price of a ticket to a show does not entitle audience members access to a band’s stage.”

The Prague Post also reported that the trial will last about four days.

Blythe was imprisoned for five-weeks in the Czech Republic. He was detained on June 27 when the four-time Grammy nominated, and Richmond-based, band arrived there for a show.
