CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) – A Chesterfield teenager, arrested and charged in the accidental shooting of a fellow sixteen-year-old in the face now faces additional charges.

The 16-year-old is accused of breaking into neighbors’ homes in the Irongate subdivision and stealing guns and jewelry, a week before the December shooting of his friend.

He was arrested last week after a shooting in the 6700 block of Irongate Drive that sent his friend to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. He was charged  with felonious assault and reckless handling of a firearm at that time.

On Tuesday, the teen was arraigned on charges of breaking and entering and larceny. According to court documents, police found stolen guns while searching the suspect’s home after the shooting.

Relatives of the shooting victim said the two teens were playing with the gun, unaware a bullet was in the chamber.

Police said no adults were home at the time of the shooting.
