TORONTO (CNN) -- A monkey donning a  fancy coat and a diaper caused a ruckus when it got loose in an IKEA parking lot earlier this week.

Most folks make a trek to IKEA expecting cheap furniture, not expensively dressed monkeys.

The primate was running around outside an entrance at a Toronto IKEA in a diaper and faux fur coat.

Soon after the animal was spotted, the tweets started to fly:

"Anyone lose their monkey at IKEA?" pondered one Twitter user.

Officials said the owner was shopping inside the store when the monkey managed to get out of his crate and out of the car.

"All the people were trying to call it towards them but it was very scared, it was darting all over the place, they were trying to get it away from cars," one person who saw what happened said.

The owner was fined $240 and had to permanently hand over Darwin, since monkeys are prohibited as pets in Ontario.

The monkey was moved to an Ontario primate sanctuary.
