GOOCHLAND, Va. (WTVR)--We can now put a face to the two people who helped save their colleague.

Ann and Doug Rohrer like their privacy and preferred not to talk about the day they drove up to work and spotted a teacher being brutally beaten in the school parking lot.

Police said that 29-year-old Uriah Harris nearly killed the teacher he used to date, by punching her and banging her face into the concrete.

“If this had continued for much longer, it's very possible and even probable this woman would have been seriously hurt and possibly killed,” says Goochland Sheriff, James Agnew.

For that reason, he felt it necessary to recognize the couple.

Agnew says they don’t typically advise bystanders to intervene during such an incident, but encourage people to call 911 first.

Doug Rohrer did call 911 afterward, but, Agnew says this situation was unique.

“In this particular case, had they called us, we wouldn't have gotten there in time,” said Agnew.
