RALEIGH, N.C. (WTVR) – A U.S. District judge ruled North Carolia’s pro-life license plates unconstitutional, according to a report on MyFox8.com.

The report indicated the judge found the “Choose Life” license plate violated the First Amendment because the state did not offer a similar license plate that supported abortion rights.

As a result, a 2011 preliminary injunction that blocked the production and sale of North Carolina’s “Choose Life” plates became permanent. Click here to read more on MyFox8.com.

In Virginia, drivers do have an option to buy either a “Choose Life” or “Trust Women, Respect Choice” license plate.

According to the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles website, there are more than 200 license plates available for purchase.

The Virginia plates represent special interest groups, college and universities, military branches and more.
