Mt. Pleasant, MI (WNEM) — Police in Mount Pleasant say a Central Michigan University student tried to poison her roommate all due to a dispute over dirty dishes.

Michigan State Police said 19-year-old Kayla Ashlyn Bonkowski, was arrested on a count of felony poisoning in connection to the Nov. 11 incident.

The alleged poisoning happened at the Jamestown apartment complex.

The MSP investigation revealed that a dispute between the two female roommates over some dirty dishes escalated to the point that Bonkowski put bleach into the 20-year-old victim’s ice tea.

The victim sought medical treatment and has been released. Investigators close to the case say Bonkowski doesn’t seem the least bit remorseful.

Bonkowski posted a $2,000 cash bond after being arrested on the warrant that was issued by the Isabella County Prosecutor’s Office.

Bonkowski is scheduled for an arraignment in Isabella County District Court of Isabella County on Monday, Dec. 10 at 10:00 a.m.

If convicted, Bonkowski could be sentenced to up to 15 years in prison.
