YORK COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) — Help is pouring in for a former worker at an AutoZone in York County, fired for stopping a robbery in his store.

Devin Mclean was fired because he went to his car, got a gun and scared off a robbery suspect, holding his manager at gunpoint. Devin, who is a military veteran, had a permit for the gun. But the store still fired him, saying it has a zero tolerance policy.

Since his firing, the community has rallied around Mclean, flooding AutoZone’s Facebook page with requests to hire him back. Some people have given him money and offered him jobs. One person even gave him a free trip to New York City.

“Just the support I’ve been getting from everyone is just uplifting my spirits,” says Mclean.

Even if AutoZone changed its weapons policy, Mclean says he wouldn’t want his job back and that he disagrees with the company on principle.
