RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) — A North Carolina man is facing charges after a single-vehicle crash caused some big delays on I-95 north in Richmond Wednesday afternoon.

State police said 27-year-old Christopher D. McDonald, of Cameron, N.C., was charged with reckless driving-failure to maintain proper control after his pickup truck  hauling a trailer carrying two vehicles flipped and blocked all lanes of I-95 north..

Sergeant Thomas J. Molnar, with Virginia State Police, said troopers responded to a single-vehicle crash involving a pickup truck hauling a utility trailer carrying a Land Cruiser and a Range Rover at 11:20 a.m.

Molnar said the wreck happened when McDonald was attempting to merge on I-95 north from the Parham Road east entrance ramp, ran off the left side of the ramp and lost control of his vehicle.

The pickup and trailer both overturned, spilling the two vehicles on the trailer onto the interstate. As a result, all the northbound lanes were blocked for hours.

McDonald, who was wearing his safety belt, suffered minor injuries and was treated by medical personnel at the scene.
