RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR)–You can see in her eyes that Juley Allen is proud of her grandson, Robert Griffin III.

In fact, she spells it out first thing. “He’s just making all the family very , very,  very proud.”

In fact, his grandmother– who has lived in Richmond since 1999–said Griffin’s draft selection has caused her to switch her allegiance to a new favorite team.

Most of his family lives in New Orleans, and are big Saints fans.  They were at least, until Draft Day 2012 when the Redskins drafted Griffin with the number two overall pick.

Sifting through newspaper clippings and magazines, she proudly showed off her grandson’s picture with President Bush.  “He’s always said he was going to be something!” Allen exclaimed.

Allen has even picked up a new nickname “RG3-G,” as in RG3’s grandmother. “The whole family is proud of him,” she said. “I love him to death.”

“It’s just so wonderful, so beautiful to see, to live to see my grandson run like that and be so brave,” Allen said.

You can also see it the pride on her car. It’s a moving tribute to the rookie quarterback better known by the nation and Redskin’s fans as RG3.

He is considered the key to turning things around for the team, who have had six wins and six losses this season. They have won the past three games in a row.

“He knows what he wants to do and how he’s going to do it, and that’s [also] the way he plays,” said Allen.

And every time Robert Griffin the Third picks that ball up and takes off running down the field, well as RGIII goes, so goes his grandmother.  Only she’s running in her living room.
