HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) – Students at Freeman High School donated more than 30,000 canned and boxed food items to the Henrico Christmas Mother.

“We started filling the gym foyer and I kept hearing stories,” Freeman principal Ann Poates said in a video provided by the county school system. “But until you actually came and stood in this gym foyer, in the middle of bags everywhere, stacked floor to ceiling, you really didn’t get the impression of how very many items it was.”

Poates said students helped maintenance staff carry the items from the gym to trucks for transport.
