CHARLOTESVILLE, Va. (WTVR)—Police have arrested a suspect in connection with the abduction that occurred last Saturday at the Fashion Square Mall in Charlottesville.

The Albemarle County Police have arrested James Kevin Clay and charged him with one count of the felony offense of abduction.

On Saturday, Nov. 24, Key picked up a two-year-old girl from behind and began walking away with her.

The parents intervened and took their child back. At that point mall security was beckoned and they spoke with Key, only to escort him out of the mall without any police reports being filed.

On Tuesday pictures of the suspect from surveillance video were released to the public in hopes of tracking down the suspect.

Albemarle Police said they received numerous tips and attributed the arrest to the public’s assistance.

Key is currently being held at the Albemarle-Charlottesville Regional Jail and will have a bond hearing on Friday.
