RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) – With no rainfall in our forecast through Friday, we will land in the top five driest Novembers on record at Richmond International Airport. Tuesday’s 0.12″ of rainfall helped knock us down from the number two spot down to number five. But our year-to-date deficit is (as of this posting) 6.31″ below normal.

In addition, Abnormally Dry and Moderate Drought (D1) conditions are expanding again in the Commonwealth, according to the latest Drought Monitor, since the previous week. The Abnormally Dry area is up to 42.63% of Virginia from 38.11% the week before. The D1 area is up to 19.26% from 11.83% the prior week.

The next chances for rain as it stands right now in our near forecast are for late December 2 and again December 5. The second chance looks more robust than the slim chance for showers late Sunday night.
