CHESTER, Va. (WTVR) - Chesterfield Police are investigating a triple shooting in the 17200 block of Timsberry Terrace. Police say that there are three people injured, two  boys and one woman.

Police identified the man they arrested in the shooting as Michael Derrick Williams, 35, of 13700 block of Duxton Dr.

Williams has been charged with three counts of using a firearm in the commission of a felony, one count of burglary and one count of shooting into an occupied dwelling. He's currently being held in Chesterfield County Jail without bond.

All three victims are being treated at VCU Medical Center.

Police received a call at 8:19 p.m. for shots fired at the Broadwater Townhomes. Captain Kevin Smith said that they arrived to an active, tense shooter scene. They heard shots fired inside the townhouse and distress cries for help.

A witness said that he overheard an argument between the woman who lives at the townhouse and the man who frequents the residence.

A witness reported that the woman walked away from the man, went inside and shut and locked the door. The man pulled out a gun and shot the door. He then went inside and fired off several more shots, said the witness.

The police were on scene in five to six minutes, the witness said.

Police said the suspect refused to surrender when police attempted to get him out of the home. Police said that the suspect fired out of the front door. He then ran out of the back.

An officer on the scene said that an officer may have fired one or two shots to get the suspect to surrender.

CBS 6 is on the scene and was told that the suspect is not injured, and is in custody at this time. The suspect has not been charged yet and Cpt. Smith said that the suspect is not cooperating at this time.

The two young boys are believed to be ages 11 and 16, police said. All victims were taken to VCU Medical center in critical condition. Neighbors say the woman is the mother of the two boys. Her condition has been upgraded to stable. The boys remain in critical condition said police.

The CBS 6 reporter covering the shooting noted that it is a very graphic scene, with a lot of blood inside the apartment.

"The scene inside is rather bloody," said Cpt. Smith. "A vicious horrendous crime definitely went on in there."

Smith said that police would be on the scene throughout the night.

Thursday night's shooting occurred just half a block from where two teenagers were shot in April 2011. The 13-year-old, Devin Hawkins, died and the other teen sustained serious injuries, in 2011.
