UPDATE: Man charged in Colonial Heights quadruple stabbing

COLONIAL HEIGHTS, Va. (WTVR) - The original 911 call to Cambridge Place was for a person stabbed but when police arrived on scene they found something much worse than that: actually four people were stabbed and two of them were in critical condition.

Away from the camera neighbors described the confusion on Cambridge Place in Colonial Heights as they got home from work.  Eyewitnesses told us the violence played out in front of two young children.

“I noticed a woman holding her neck, banging on the neighbor’s door, screaming, ‘He stabbed me!’" said one neighbor who didn’t want his name used.

"She was screaming, “Somebody help me! He stabbed me! He stabbed me!’" said another neighbor who also did not want her name used.

Police arrived and rushed two of the victims to VCU Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

"They had several lacerations and were transported to area hospitals," said Colonial Heights Sgt. Robert Ruxer

Colonial Heights police are trying to sort out exactly what happened, but late Thursday police said it appeared to be a domestic dispute that turned violent. Police on scene snapped photos of bloody evidence and canvassed the neighborhood asking questions.  But people living across the street had questions of their own.

"My focus is on safety,” said the male neighbor.  “I was making sure my kids stayed in the house.  What’ll happen in the future? My kids walk home from school.  It's scary.

Another neighbor said one of the most troublesome things about Thursday violence was seeing kids whisked away by police officers.  Police told us one suspect was in custody and charges could be filed soon.
