RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) - Varina got a 22 yard field goal from Xavier Young with 1.5 seconds left to cap their 30-29 come from behind win over Meadowbrook in one Division 6 regional semifinal.

The Blue Devils built a 14-0 halftime lead thanks in part to a 40 yard touchdown pass from Brandon Wood to P.T Dixon. But the Monarchs came back in the second half behind TD passes from Gerard Johnson, one being a 77 yard strike to Terrelle Whitaker and took a 21-14 lead with just over 11 minutes to play. The Monarchs extended a one point lead to 8 at 29-20 with 5:04 to go.

Varina responded with a 2 yd touchdown run with 1:30 to go. With no timeouts remaining, the Blue Devils recovered an onside kick, then got the help of a pass interference call on Meadowbrook in the red zone to extend their drive. Young's field goal was the game winner and put Varina back in the regional final for the first time since 2008.
