ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WTVR) - Twelve finalists made the cut, but only two will enter New York's National Hall of Fame on Thursday when officials announce the Class of 2012.

To date, 49 toys have made the cut. They range from classics, like Play-Doh and Slinky, to the less obvious, like the stick and cardboard box.

Longevity is a key factor, each toy has to be widely recognizable, foster learning,  creativity or discovery through play, and endure in popularity over generations.

Officials will announce the two inductees Thursday morning at The National Museum of Play in Rochester, New York. An online poll helped them make their picks.

It appears "the Force"  is with Star Wars Action Figures, bringing in 33 percent of the vote. Little green army men also appear to have occupied a commanding lead in the poll with 28 percent.

The rest of the 2012 nominees are: the Magic 8 Ball, the board game Clue, dominoes, Fisher-Price's rolling Corn Popper, the tea set, Lite-Brite, the pogo stick, sidewalk chalk, the electronic game Simon, and Twister.

Sidewalk chalk, which traces its roots to the 16th Century, and dominoes, which originated in China in the 1300s, have been around the longest among the nominees.

So who do you think should win?
