WAVERLY, Va. (WTVR) – Sussex 1 state prison in Waverly is on lock down as the Department of Corrections investigates a morning incident that injured a correctional officer.
The officer was injured by an offender, according to an email from Va. Department of Corrections Director of Communications Lisa Kinney.
“The officer is being treated and his family has been notified,” Kinney wrote.
Sussex 1 is Security Level 5 prison that houses Virginia’s Death Row.
