(WTVR) – It’s sometimes called the cuddle hormone, now scientists say Oxytocin may have the power to help men stay faithful.

A new study in the Journal of Neuroscience shows men in relationships that were given Oxytocin were more likely to want to stay farther away from an unknown woman they found attractive, compared to single men given the hormone or a placebo.

Oxytocin has been proven to create stronger bonds between parents and children as well as couples.

A previous study found Oxytocin played a role in positively affecting monogamy in animals.

Researchers say this study is the first evidence that the hormone may have a similar effect on humans.
