GILBERT, Ariz. (KPHO) - A pregnant woman in Arizona is behind bars accused of running over her husband because of what he didn't do on Election Day.

Police said that the outcome of the election led Holly Solomon to run down her husband in a parking lot when she found out he had not voted.

Gilbert Police Sgt. Jesse Sanger said  Holly Solomon, and her husband Daniel, got into a fight inside their vehicle in a Gilbert parking lot and that "she was extremely upset."

A police report stated that the pregnant Holly was upset because President Obama was re-elected. When she found out that her husband had not voted, police said she was driven over the edge.

Investigators said Holly claimed she just wanted to scare her husband when he got out of their Jeep.

However, Sanger said at one point the man dodged between a light pole so he wouldn't get hit. But tragedy struck when Daniel "ended up leaving the light pole at one point trying to run away from the pole to a different area ."

That's when police said Holly hit the gas instead of the break, and ran over her husband, pinning him to the ground.

Solomon remains in the hospital in critical condition.

His wife has been charged with aggravated assault and reckless driving.

Several witnesses who saw unfolded in the parking lot called 911:

"Um yes, this woman just ran down her boyfriend or husband in the parking lot here in Gilbert.... We saw it. Yeah, she ran him down," one caller said. "He needs help."
