RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) - Details are still emerging in the Fulton Hill shooting that took place in Richmond Tuesday morning.

According to police, a male in his forties got out of a tow truck at 12:35 am and encountered two African American males at the intersection of Mt. Erin Drive and Union Street.

Police say a struggle ensued, the tow truck driver was robbed, and then shot multiple times. A 911 call was placed at a nearby home and the tow tuck driver was rushed to VCU Medical Center with life threatening injuries.

"I was in my bedroom and I [saw] some lights. I looked out the window so I knew something had happened," a person living near the crime scene told CBS 6.

"I stayed inside because I don't want to get involved in anything I didn't want to get hurt," Cleveette Harris, another neighbor, said.

Bernedette Clarke has lived on the street for 35 years and says it has changed in recent years.

"It's not like it used to be, no where near like it used to be. It used to be a lot friendlier and it has changed a lot," Clarke says.

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Crimestoppers.
