DINWIDDIE COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) – A Dinwiddie County man is being held on first-degree murder charges in connection with the death of his father.

Dinwiddie County Sheriff’s investigators arrested Jeffrey Joseph Greely, 23, on Monday night. They said he killed his father, 57-year-old Cal Greely, Jr.

Investigators found the father’s body after they were called to the family’s Sawmill Road home to investigate an “incident.”

“Preliminary investigation reveals that an ongoing domestic argument between the father and son may have been a motivating factor in this homicide,” Dinwiddie Major W.B. Knott said.

The State Medical Examiner’s Office has not yet determined Cal Greely, Jr.’s cause of death, Knott said. Jeffrey Joseph Greely is being held in jail without bond pending a preliminary hearing in Dinwiddie County Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court.
