DENVER,  Colo. (KDVR)— Could marijuana tourism increase now that two states have legalized marijuana?

Hit the slopes, and then hit a bong, for a vacation? Will Aspen, Colo. become Aspendam?

On election night, Nov. 6 two states—Washington and Colorado–legalized marijuana. Both measures make possession in small amounts legal for adults over 21; essentially regulating the drug like alcohol.

Now lots of questions have arisen.  The first is: “will the recreational marijuana measures even take effect or will the federal government assert supremacy?”

Also, will employers treat pot just like alcohol?

Colorado is already a huge tourist destination, and if the measure is allowed to stand, could pull in even more visitors. The law would allow state residents and visitors to smoke marijuana if over age 21.

Ski resorts are “certainly watching it closely,” said Jennifer Rudolph of Colorado Ski Country USA,a trade association that represents 21 Colorado resorts.
