Robber targets women at Richmond bus stops

RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) - Richmond Police are looking for the person who robbed women at East End bus stops.

Police said the robber targeted women, who were alone with their purses in plain view.

The crimes occurred from Saturday morning through Sunday afternoon, police said. Police provided the following list of times and locations that the crimes took place:

  • Saturday at 7:16 a.m. in the 1700 block of Mechanicsville Turnpike
  • Saturday at 8:20 a.m. in the 2400 block of East Marshall Street
  • Saturday at 10:10 p.m. in the 2800 block of Fairfield Avenue
  • Saturday at 11:46 p.m. in the 1000 block of North 20th Street
  • Sunday at 5:43 a.m. in the 1000 block of Mosby Avenue
  • Sunday at 12:30 p.m. in the 3300 block of N Street

Detectives say the suspect is a black male, 5'8" to 5'`10", weighing 150-200 lbs.  He was wearing a black skull cap and black leather 3/4 length jacket at the time of the robberies.

Richmond Police are asking riders to remain alert while they wait for their bus.  Also, avoid carrying large purses or bags to reduce your chance of being targeted.
