A storm system will develop across the southern Plains into Monday, and then track into the southeastern states on Tuesday.
This storm will track up the mid-Atlantic coast on Wednesday. The exact storm track will be pivotal in terms of what kind of precipitation we will see.
With the storm near the coast, that means much of the area will see a cold rain much of Wednesday. The rain/snow line will be near the mountains of Virginia.
However, since the storm is still a few days away, the exact track is not 100% certain. If the storm tracks farther west, this would mean rain for the entire state. West Virginia, which saw heavy snow from Sandy, would see another round of snowfall (although not as heavy as what they saw last week).
However, if the storm tracks slightly more east, this would bring the rain/snow line closer to Interstate 95.
And, if the storm tracks much farther east, this would mean little to no precipitation for us, since much of the moisture will be over the ocean.
This is something that definitely bears watching, and we will continue to update you the next few days.
Also of note, after the storm passes us, it will move up the northeastern coast. This would provide stronger winds and heavy precipitation to sections of the country hit by Hurricane Sandy last week.
