ETTRICK, Va. (WTVR) - First Lady Michelle Obama rallied a boisterous crowd at Virginia State University Friday evening.

Around 3,200 supporters, who started filing into the Daniel Gymnasium around 3 p.m., gathered for the first lady's rally.

Michelle Obama spoke around 5:30 p.m. for about a half-hour to the revved up crowd.

She admitted that the election, especially in Virginia and other battleground states, would be very close. As a result, she asked attendees to make sure their friends and family head to the polls and cast their ballot on Election Day.

Mrs. Obama said the election comes down to two choices.

"It's about choice, about our values and our hopes and our aspirations," Obama said. "It's a choice about the kind of country we want to leave for our kids and grandkids."

The first lady also pointed out that Obama believes education is a crucial factor in our country's success. She pointed to Obama's boosting of Pell Grants and financial aid for students.

Mrs. Obama also talked about her husband's commitment to the country and the strengths she feels makes him a good president. She said the president's integrity,  strong work ethic and compassion for others are important parts of his character.

She also pointed out just how far the couple has come. She talked about her working class parents and talked about the president growing up in a single-parent household.

Mrs. Obama also took a moment to ask folks to pray for victims of Hurricane Sandy, who are facing major obstacles after the storm caused so much destruction.

A Virginia GOP spokesperson pointed out that the first lady's two stops Friday were in areas where early voting is lagging for Democrats. He said that could problematic for the president on Election Day.
