HOPEWELL, Va. (WTVR) – Police are looking for the person who shot a 16-year-old Halloween night in Hopewell. Police were called to the 3600 block of Wilmington Ave. around 9:00 p.m., according to an email from Hopewell Police Department spokesman Lt. Damon Stoker.

While police were investigating at the scene, the 16-year-old victim showed up at John Randolph Medical Center for treatment. The teenager was transported to another hospital where he is listed in stable, but serious condition.

Investigators believe the victim knew the shooter and the shooting was the result of a “ongoing dispute.”

“It is imperative that we bring those responsible for this act to justice,” Hopewell Police Deputy Chief Robert Skowron said in an email. Skowron said making a quick arrest could prevent “relatiatory acts or vigilante justice.”

Witnesses who saw what happened last night are asked to call Hopewell/Prince George Crime Solvers at (804) 541-2202.
