VIRGINIA BEACH, Va (WTVR) - It's been a busy week for Governor Bob McDonnell, but it turns out that while he was busy preparing the state for Hurricane Sandy--someone was looting his Virginia Beach rental properties.

Virginia Beach Police say two of the governor's Sandbridge-area rental properties were broken into. The culprits made away with at least two t.v.'s sometime between Saturday and Tuesday. Officials add that chances are they won't find the suspects, as the area is often deserted this time of year.

Our sister station, WTKR, spoke with one of the few neighbors who lives in the area year-round.

“I think whoever does this, makes a routine out of it because they know the area,” said Phil McGillvary. "I’m sorry about that, but I’d be sorry for anybody.”

The governor’s office confirmed the break-ins to WTKR and said the two beachfront homes on Sandfiddler Road are rented out by the governor, his wife and his sister.

Police said it appeared someone broke in the home through the windows.

Virginia Beach Police have no suspect information, but they say it does not appear the governor was targeted in the break in.
