HANOVER COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) – Lee-Davis nearly knocked off fourth ranked Highland Springs last week, but lost in triple overtime. They didn’t squander a second chance to beat a ranked Capital District rival when they upset No.5 Hanover 10-6 in week 8.

Both teams played stellar defense throughout, and forced the offenses into miscues. The only scoring of the first half came on a 25 yard field goal from Steven Hall that gave the Confederates a 3-0 lead at halftime.

In the second half, Jordan Prentiss scored on a 22 yard run to extend the Confederates lead to 10-0. But with just over 5 minutes to play, Sam Rogers punched in a 1 yard TD run to cut the lead to 10-6. The Hawks would get no closer as Lee-Davis improves to 5-3 on the season.

Hanover falls to 6-2, 3-2 in the Capital. The Hawks were the highest rated Division 5 team in the region before this week, and this loss likely won't hurt their shot at a playoff spot. Lee-Davis, however, was tied for third in the D-5 ratings and gave their playoff hopes a huge boost with the win.
