PETERSBURG, Va. (WTVR) – An investigation is underway after police found two guns at Peabody Middle School in Petersburg Wednesday.
Petersburg City Public Schools’ Acting Public Information Officer Johna Vazquez said police found two guns inside a locker. However, officials said no ammunition was found.
Earlier in the day, Vazquez said that administrators and security staff were told that a student had brought a weapon to school.
As a result, the school was placed on lockdown as a precaution. The lockdown was lifted by the time students were released for the day.
Officials also stressed that at no time during the incident were students in danger.
