RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR)--Two dollars and a set of keys: that's all three men got away with last night in North Richmond, after pistol-whipping a physically disabled man and stealing his car.

And now that car needs repair

Police released the name of one of the men arrested in the crime, the other person's name is withheld because he is a juvenile. 18-year-old Malcolm Ahmad Cox faces nine charges: Contribute to the delinquency of a minor, resisting arrest, assault on an official, eluding an officer, two counts of hit and run, driving with out a license, stolen goods, and two counts of not reporting an accident

"It was three against one and obviously I'm disabled,” said Corey Gardner.  “It was just me by myself."  Gardner was cornered, and robbed, just a few feet from his back door.  "[The] dude had a gun."

“A guy with a gun would ask me a question, then hit me with the gun and every time I tried to answer his question,” he said.  “He'd tell me to shut up, so I couldn't answer."

With the car keys in hand, the suspects took off with his car.

The car was then spotted by a Henrico officer on Interstate 64 Monday afternoon, and when he turned on his blue lights, the thieves hit the gas.  Other motorists quickly took note.

“I was going down 360 and this black car whizzed by me, hit the side of my car, then the front fender," said Adrean Cardeneas.

Police say the suspects sideswiped two cars before crashing into another.  “Right now I feel nervous because this is the first time something like this has happened to me," said Cardeneas.

He was badly shaken up behind the wheel.

“I had the green light,” he said.  “I heard the police come up, and I didn't see anything.  But I guess they were chasing [them] because the guys were trying to screw over the police."

The chase lasted for just over a mile.  Police were able to corner a  teenage driver and his passenger in a warehouse parking lot. Investigators are now sorting out a chase, a few fender benders and a robbery, that left Gardner without his car.

He picked up a rental car Monday afternoon, saying he couldn't afford to miss work.

Police say his car has extensive front end damage. Corey is sadly familiar with robbery: his 76-year-old mom, was robbed in the same spot, three years ago.
