STUDY: Organic food doesn’t have extra nutritional value for children

(CNN) РAn organic diet for kids may not be worth the extra money.

A new report from the American Academy of Pediatrics found no evidence that organic foods offer any extra nutritional value over conventionally grown foods.

Pediatricians say both types of food offer the same amount of vitamins, antioxidants and proteins.

The report did note that organic foods do contain lower levels of pesticides and are less likely to be contaminated with drug-resistant bacteria, which could be significant for kids.

But doctors say, what’s most important, is that parents feed their children a diet rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains and low-fat dairy products.
