PIEDMONT, Calif (KGO) - Administrators at a California High School have responded in a big way after finding out about a so-called "Fantasy Slut League" in which the principal says girls were rated by fellow male students based on sexual activity.

According to a letter sent home to parents, the school staff at Piedmont High learned about this during a recent assembly about date rape prevention. School leaders investigated and determined this has been going on for five or six years.

"Participation often involved pressure manipulation by older students that included alcohol to impair judgment and control social demands to be popular," the school principal wrote.

"We wanted to make sure that parents were aware of things that were going in their kids' lives," superintendent Constance Hubbard said about the letter to parents. "The main thing is that I don't want to blow this out of proportion; I don't want to make is something that is some horrible big event that we found out about."

The school is planning a series of on-campus assemblies with lessons about preventing this in the future.
