CHESTERFIELD, Va. (WTVR) – A felony child neglect charge has been dropped against a Chesterfield mother of eight accused of leaving an infant inside her van while she went shopping.

A prosecutor asked the judge to withdraw the charge against Angela Case Tuesday morning because she had done nothing wrong.

Case was arrested in September when her 9-month-old son was found alone in a van in a Walmart parking lot. Case had gone inside the store to purchase some school supplies.

The prosecutor said that after a thorough investigation, officials found that an older teen relative had put the infant in the woman's van, which was described as a small bus used to haul around her eight kids.

Case, with her husband and around a dozen supporters by her side, walked out of the courtroom relieved that the difficult ordeal was over.

Case had no comment for the media, but spoke through her attorney outside of court.

"She had no knowledge that the child was there. She has eight children and she's a wonderful mother, and a as you can tell, has wonderful, loving husband, family and friends," he said. "A very unfortunate situation. No harm came to the child and it's time to move on."

Case's family members and friends also declined to comment, but said through Case's attorney that they want the community to know Case is a loving wife and mother.
