RICHMOND, Va (WTVR)- Thomas Jefferson High School has a comeback story in the making, similar to the movie “Remember the Titans.”

The TeeJay Vikings were state champions a generation ago.

But they hadn’t won a game in the past four years.

They have a new principal with a new academic vision. And with new coach Chad Hornik came some serious alumni muscle to begin bringing the school back to its athletic glory days.

Funds were raised to a new locker room and uniforms, which are believed to have helped lift the Vikings to win their season opener.

A local firm redid the football field, only to have it vandalized earlier this month. The same firm came back and fixed it and it will be lush for homecoming next Friday.

There are plans in motion to redo the baseball field and add a weight room.

But this isn’t about just lifting the school’s athletic program.

Watch our video story to see the big plan for this historic high school named after a legendary Goochland native and critical founding father.
