HIGHLAND SPRINGS, Va. (WTVR) – Henrico Police investigated a “suspicious situation” on Fern Ave. near the intersection of Nine Mile Rd. and Holly Ave., according to Henrico Police spokeswoman Lt. Linda Toney.

Toney said police were called to the neighborhood after people said they heard gunshots.

Henrico Police found no evidence of gunshots, Toney said.

The situation prompted nearby Highland Springs High School and Highland Springs Elementary School to go on lockdown earlier Thursday morning.

Those lock downs have since been lifted, according to Dr. Patrick Kinlaw, with Henrico County Public Schools.

This is a developing story.
