PRINCE GEORGE COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) – The search for the missing 12-year-old boy has ended, officials said.

Police say at 6:55 p.m. members of the Department of Game and Inland Fisheries located the body of Clacy Sullivan underwater, using sonar.

It took divers 30 minutes to recover his body.

Just as the sun was setting Wednesday night and a candlelight vigil had just begun for missing Clacy, the Department of Game and Inland Fisheries found Clacy.

"According to the divers, he was 50 feet down," said Captain Brian Kie with Prince George County Police.

He says Clacy was clothed and 50 yards away from the shoreline where he accidentally fell into the water while playing with friends Tuesday afternoon at Vulcan Rock Quarry off Puddledock Road in Prince George County.

Family members say Clacy did not know how to swim.

"Obviously, it's been a very difficult time for the family," said Kie.

With emotions running high, Clacy's mother, Lisa Rose and Clacy's stepfather, Clay Curry held each other during the vigil. It was held close to the site where Clacy went missing.

Around 100 neighbors, family members and others attended. Some shared stories through tears, including Clacy's stepfather recalling how they watched the football game together Monday night.

Some of Clacy's friends could hardly speak.

"He was always fun to hang out with," said a teary-eyed, Mark Summerfield.

Others, like Dejuan Branch, a family friend, expressed what others could not.

"Clacy, from my remembrance of him, was an energetic young man. He had a very good spirit about himself and also respectful," he said.

The vigil ended with people singing the hymn, Amazing Grace, for a 12 year-old boy they say will forever live in their hearts.

"We are a body, but our spirit lives on forever and ever," said Branch.

Police said Clacy's body had no visible trauma. His body was transported to the Richmond Medical Examiner's office to determine an official cause of death.
