PRINCE GEORGE COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) - Crews continued their search Wednesday for a 12-year-old boy who fell into a water-filled rock quarry while playing with two other kids on Tuesday afternoon.

Crews working to find Clacy Sullivan said that late Tuesday the operation had switched from a rescue to a recovery effort.

Family members said Sullivan was playing with friends near the Vulcan Rock Quarry off of Puddledock Road when he fell into the water. Family members said the sixth grader at J.E.J. Moore Middle School did not know how to swim.

The water at the quarry gets up to 80-feet deep and at the time Sullivan fell in the water temperature was 45 degrees.

"No matter what we find whether he is living or he is dead, still God is able and He will make a way," the victim's great-aunt Sandra Parham said.

Investigators said Sullivan lived in a mobile park home that backed up to the rock quarry.

The pre-teen along with two of his friends are believed to have used a makeshift trail, where they are said to have crossed over two berms, in order to make it to the waters edge.

"We are not really sure what is below the water," Prince George County Police Captain Brian Kei said.  "There's a lot of rocks and minerals and the unknown.  Visibility is definitely going to be an issue for the divers as well."

Crew members from all over the area are assisting with the recovery effort.  Detectives said they are searching an area that spans nearly 30 acres.

The family will hold a vigil for Clacy Sullivan at 7:00 p.m. tonight at the Vulcan Rock Quarry.
