RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) – The Red Cross is providing food, clothing and shelter to seven adults and an infant who escaped an overnight house fire in South Richmond.

A worker with Paul Davis Restoration, a company that cleans up fire damaged homes, told CBS 6 reporter Jerrita Patterson that one person inside the home along the 300 block of  Lasalle Drive escaped the fire through a window.

The cause of the 2:00 a.m. fire remained under investigation, Richmond Fire Lt. Robbie Hagaman said. Hagaman said it took fire crews about an hour to bring the fire under control.

One person inside the home when the fire started suffered minor burns, but declined medical treatment, Hagaman said.
