RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) – Rafael strengthened to a category one hurricane Monday, and is now moving north-northeast. Based on this current track, Rafael will brush east of Bermuda by late afternoon.

The hurricane force winds (74 mph+) extend out from the center of Rafael up to 45 miles, but tropical storm force winds extend out much farther from the center by as much as 205 miles. This means Bermuda could experience gusty winds, rough swells and about 2 to 4 inches of rainfall from the system as it passes east.
