New scam targets Virginia voters
RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) – The State Board of Elections is warning of a new scam targeting voters.
Someone is calling voters, especially older Virginians, and telling them they can vote in the Fall elections by phone. That is false. In Virginia, you must vote at the polls on Election Day or by absentee ballot.
You must also be registered to vote. In fact, the voter registration deadline is Monday, Oct. 15.
If you receive a call from someone claiming they want you to vote by phone, call The State Board of Elections at 1-800-552-9745.
