Kellogg’s Mini-Wheats recalled over metal bits

(WTVR) – Kellogg’s is recalling a very popular breakfast cereal because of worries about metal bits.

The cereal giant said several of its Frosted Mini-Wheats varieties are being voluntarily recalled “due to the possible presence of fragments of flexible metal mesh.”

The affected cereal is sold across the country. There have been no reports yet of injuries.

The recalled products include Frosted Mini-Wheats Bite Size (Original) and Mini-Wheats Unfrosted Bite Size with the letters KB, AP or FK before or after the “Best If Used Before” date.

“At Kellogg, our number one priority is the quality and safety of our foods. We have a comprehensive metal control program that includes magnets and metal detection devices. We are working with our metal detector supplier to understand why the equipment did not detect the mesh fragments,” the cereal giant posted in an online statement.
