HENRICO, VA (WTVR) -- Twenty-four hours after a shot was fired inside Regency Mall, one woman is organizing an event to prevent customers from going elsewhere.

Laura Jankey will host "Take Back Regency"at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 13. The idea is to show the community that they are still committed to shopping at the center.

"We want to take back our mall," " Jankey said. "This is a safe neighborhood and we want to keep it that way."

While Jankey is optimistic that the mall will not lose customers over the incident, some businesses are worried.

"When I first heard it, I was a little shocked," Sharon Towsend, owner of Tiffany's Bridal, told CBS 6.

While Tiffany's is located across the street from the mall, Towsend is still worried that a decline in mall traffic will affect her business.

"I hope it would not effect us, I think together we all make a great shopping community," Towsend said.

Managers at Disco Sporting Goods feel the same way.

"I think for a day or two people will be a little apprehensive," Chuck Bowen, manager of Disco Sports, said. Bowen remained optimistic however that Monday's event will not affect mall traffic and said that "the city has done a lot of positive things to get traffic this way...".

The two suspects remain at large. Anyone with information is asked to contact Crimestoppers at 804-780-1000.
