Richmond sets new record cool high Monday

RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) – Monday’s warmest temperature during the 24 hour period of October 8 was only 51 degrees at Richmond International Airport. This set a new “record cool high temperature” for October 8, breaking the old record of 53 degrees set in 2000.

Sunday’s high temperature of 58 degrees (which actually occurred at 2:01 a.m. EDT) was very close to the record cool high temperature for October 7 of 56 degrees from 1935.

Average high temperatures for these two dates are 73-74 degrees in Richmond for this time of year.

There were other record cool high temperatures set Monday, October 8 in Virginia:
Blacksburg: 42 degrees (breaks old record of 48 degrees from 1971)
Roanoke: 47 degrees (breaks old record of 54 degrees from 2000)
Danville: 49 degrees (breaks old record of 56 from 1952)
Washington Dulles Airport: 51 degrees (breaks old record of 56 from 2000)
