(WTVR) – Will Big Bird be out of a job soon?

Last night’s debate left many people wondering what will happen to the entire Sesame Street crew.

This after Mitt Romney told PBS anchor and debate moderator Jim Lehreer that he would take a closer look at federal funding to PBS, which may also put the Sesame Street character out of work.

The President of PBS says the importance of PBS goes well beyond the television screen and helps students succeed in the classroom.

“It’s unbelievable to me” said Paula Kerger, “We’re America’s biggest classroom.”

Several people took to twitter and facebook to voice support to Big Bird and PBS.

In response, someone has even created a Facebook page called “Big Bird for President”.
