RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) – As daylight hours get shorter and punches of cooler air punctuate our late September weather, leaves are changing color in the mountains.
In the latest Fall foliage report issued Wednesday, The Foliage Network spotter Marek D. Rzonca says “Many areas in the Appalachian Mountains in western Virginia, eastern and northern West Virginia and western Maryland are now in the low color (11% – 30% change) category.”
Rzonca also says, “I would expect that the mountains in eastern Tennessee and western North Carolina will soon cross into the low range soon.”
As we are still early in the Fall foliage season, most of the leaves are still clinging to the trees in our region. Leaf drop remains very low to low.
